About
Ossining Steamer Company #1
Ossining Steamer Company is an all volunteer organization formed
in 1876 for the protection of life and property from fire and
other emergencies. This protection is provided to the
Ossining Fire Department, an area of about four and one half
square miles. Steamer Company covers a large area.
Responsibilities of Steamer Company include the Northern and
Eastern most parts of the Village and Town of Ossining. Steamer
is also responsible for covering part of Route 9A which runs
through the Town and the Village.
Steamer Company Is designated the Support vehicle for the
Department's Rapid Intervention Team. Our calls include
Minor Alarms: Box 1-1-4, Box 2-1-4, Box1-1-1-1. We Respond to
all General Alarms and Special call: Box 8-3 R.I.T. calls.
Membership is comprised of residents of the Village and Town of
Ossining and it's surrounding communities. Steamer Company
currently has over 50 active Volunteer firefighters and is
always seeking new members. All training is provided free of
charge by the Officers of Ossining Steamer Company and the
Ossining Fire Department.
